Journal Article 2026 02 19 The earliest known reflection of the rituals associated with the ninth of Rabiʿ al-Awwal in Persian poetry appears in verses from a qaṣīda composed by Naṣrat b. Muḥammad ʿAlavī Rāzī, a Twelver Shiʿi poet of the eighth century AH. In addition to referring to Shiʿi hadith and narrative traditions concerning this occasion, these verses also reflect certain popular beliefs and customs associated with the day. Among the notable elements mentioned in the poem are the use of masks as an indication of ritual performances and Changāl, a ritual confection associated with the observance of the ninth of Rabiʿ al-Awwal. Employing a descriptive-analytical approach and drawing upon lexical evidence, literary sources, and folklore reports, this study examines the nature and ritual function of Changāl and seeks to reconstruct its ingredients, method of preparation, and place within the rituals of the occasion. The findings indicate that Changāl had been recognized as a ritual food associated with these observances since at least the early eighth century AH and that this tradition continued until the late Safavid period. These findings shed further light on the cultural and ritual history of the ninth of Rabiʿ al-Awwal and contribute to a better understanding of the role of Changāl within its observances. In this respect, Naṣrat ʿAlavī Rāzī’s qaṣīda constitutes one of the few extant sources for the study of the rituals of the ninth of Rabiʿ al-Awwal and for reconstructing certain cultural aspects of this occasion during the pre-Safavid and Safavid periods. ‌ کهن‌ترین بازتاب شناخته‌شده از مناسک نهم ربیع‌الاول در شعر فارسی ابیاتی از قصیده‌ای سرودهٔ نصرت بن محمد علوی رازی، شاعر شیعه دوازده‌امامی سده هشتم هجری است. این ابیات افزون بر ارجاع به سنت‌های حدیثی و روایی شیعه دربارهٔ نهم ربیع، برخی باورها و رسوم مردمی مرتبط با این روز را نیز بازتاب می‌دهد. از جمله عناصر قابل توجه در این قصیده، اشاره به «صورتک» به‌عنوان نشانه‌ای از آیین‌های نمایشی و «چنگال» به‌عنوان خوراکی آیینی نهم ربیع است. پژوهش حاضر با رویکردی توصیفی ـ تحلیلی و بر پایه شواهد لغوی، ادبی و گزارش‌های فرهنگ عامه به بررسی ماهیت و کارکرد آیینی چنگال می‌پردازد و می‌کوشد ترکیب، شیوه تهیه و جایگاه آن را در مناسک نهم ربیع بازسازی کند. یافته‌ها نشان می‌دهد که چنگال دست‌کم از اوایل قرن هشتم هجری به‌عنوان خوراکی آیینی مرتبط با این مناسک شناخته می‌شده و این سنت تا اواخر دوره صفوی استمرار داشته است. این یافته‌ها بخشی از پیشینه فرهنگی و آیینی نهم ربیع‌الاول را روشن‌تر می‌سازد و به شناخت جایگاه چنگال در این مناسک کمک می‌کند. از این منظر، قصیده نصرت علوی رازی از معدود شواهد موجود برای مطالعه مناسک نهم ربیع و بازسازی برخی جنبه‌های فرهنگی آن در دوره پیشاصفوی و صفوی به شمار می‌آید. https://perlit.tabrizu.ac.ir/article_21770_7e063dcdcd66c3fd3352cb4b8896233c.pdf
